LETTER TO EXISTING AND PROSPECTIVE PATIENTSI have a strong conviction and passion for chiropractic care. I know that I am very fortunate to have found a profession that continues to motivate me and give my life purpose. My goal is to provide every patient a safe and positive environment combined with effective treatment. I trust that a positive mental attitude is essential to healing. I know that my love for people and the community combined with the desire to help others is a calling that I cannot ignore. A Doctor of Chiropractic is one who is involved in the treatment and prevention of disease, as well as in the promotion of public health, and wellness approach to health care. |
Dr. Shadi Shakoori began her journey with chiropractic after volunteering at a hospital in Northern California, following the completion of high school. Her experiences caused her to be disillusioned with the medical profession, as she observed common medical mistakes, which could have been prevented. She became disenchanted with patients being treated like a number and the bureaucracy involved in the current health care system. For a period of time, she was undecided as to whether she would seek a future in the medical profession.
Dr. Shakoori came upon chiropractic when she met a female chiropractic student who spoke about her numerous positive experiences. After attending several classes at Life University, Dr. Shakoori felt a strong connection to the philosophy and teachings of chiropractic. There was great emphasis placed on treating the “whole person” and not just the active symptoms of disease. Dr. Shakoori promptly sought and attained a position working for a chiropractor as an assistant and medical secretary. This is where she witnessed the many miracles of chiropractic care, which motivated Dr. Shakoori to seek an education in chiropractic. Dr. Shakoori graduated from Life West University on June of 1998 where she met her soon to be husband, Dr. Gregory Decrescenzo. They married in 1999 and shortly thereafter moved to Rhode Island where Dr. Decrescenzo is a native.
Dr. Shakoori started her professional career in Wareham, MA. At which time she was given the unique opportunity to work for an established chiropractor with over 30 years experience. Dr. Shakoori was given the opportunity to open and manage a new chiropractic clinic. She accepted the challenge and built a thriving practice within two years. For the next several years she treated patients in Fall River, Wareham and East Providence. In November 2004, Dr. Shakoori joined her husband, working full time in the East Providence office where she currently practices. Since then, they have successfully opened three additional offices in Rhode Island.
Dr. Shakoori realizes the importance of continuing education and staying current with new technology and advanced techniques. She specializes in the Gonstead Technique, which is highly specific and difficult to perform. Dr. Shakoori works closely with several medical specialists, such as neurosurgeons, neurologists and physiatrists in order to provide a more comprehensive and multidiscipline approach to spinal care. She has rehabilitated many patients’ pre and post-operative spinal surgery. Dr. Shakoori has great experience treating sports and gym- related injuries. She has designated a portion of her practice to pediatric and pre-natal care.
Dr. Shakoori devotes careful attention to the biomechanics, structure and function of the spine, its effect on the musculoskeletal and neurological systems, and the role played by the proper function of these systems in the preservation and restoration of health.
